Monk at Stupa
The time of the Full Moon on January 13 and 14 was a holy period for Buddhists and Hindus. Tens of thousands of people made a pilgrimage to the sacred site of the Buddhist stupa. Hundreds of thousands of oil lamps and candles were lit. Incense filled the air. Thousands of prayer flags hung from the trees.

Monks, nuns, saddhus, lay people, families and students walked in three concentric circles around the stones of the stupa chanting and praying for the well-being of their loved ones and the end of suffering on the planet.

Along with the individual pictures above, please look at the slideshow which will give you a feeling for the beauty and peacefulness of the event.
