This is all very exciting, Sander, and I do so look forward to reading your finished book, especially what you have to include about Hugo, of course. I only selected black and white because so much of what I believe your research will have unearthed in photographs will have been primarily created in black and white. Of course, if you have amassed a collection of Hugo’s magazine covers which were frequently at least 2-color, red and black, I would love to see them.
Things have changed greatly in publishing in recent years since I stopped producing printed materials but I suspect the cost of including 2 or 4-color printing still remains more expensive than black and white. I definitely hope you will choose to produce an end product I can hold in my hands, peruse at leisure, and have available in my bookcase. If including color printing in your plans could delay the completion of the project, I suggest sticking with black and white, frugal and practical old thing that I am. I am certainly willing to spend money for fine art books but your list of chapters seems to indicate that the book would be just fine with b/w photography only. Thanks so much for the update!
