Dear friends,

Amethyst and I wish you a safe and healthy and happy end of 2022 and beginning of 2023.

2022 has been very busy for me. I am writing to share some of recent exciting developments.

My Photo is in the 2023 Save Ellis Island Calendar!

In 2017, my daughter and I visited the Ellis Island museum and the South Side Hospital which is being restored. We were fortunate to take the hard-hat tour of the hospital and were able to photograph some of the restoration and the incredible photographic art on the walls by photographer JR. Here is a gallery of those photos and a story about the hospital

The Save Ellis Island foundation used one of these photos on their home page and posted a gallery of 14 of my images.

A few weeks ago I was surprised to receive an email asking to include one of the photos in the Save Ellis Island 2023 Calendar! And it is available now. Please order one to support the foundation’s efforts at restoration and preservation. All proceeds go to their work, I do not receive any royalties.

This is the cover of the calendar. My photo is July.

My Book is Two-Thirds Complete!

I am making great progress on my book. Parts 1 through 4 are complete. They required several years of research to get the details of the stories and collect and format over 300 images. I have gotten positive feedback from a few readers of the initial chapters. And next month I will be sending the completed parts to a small group of readers who have generously volunteered their time.

You can see the draft Table of Contents and list to a 2 minute audio where I read from the Introduction here.

Family Research

While researching family history I have connected with some cousins I did not know when I was a child. I have also uncovered some fascinating information about my mother and father. Here are those stories if you are interested in family history and research.

Story about my father, Norman Feinberg

Story about my mother, Sylvia (Schwartz) Feinberg

Story about my great-grandparents and honoring them with my cousins in New York

Update on Ashkenazi DNA and Ethnicity Origins

Thanks so much for reading my long email and please let me know how you are and how your 2022 went and your plans for 2023. If you are nearby, I would love to meet in person.

Hugs from Sander and Amethyst,
