How to see images from the Sárospatak Cemetery and find your relatives

We have pictures of 188 headstones. The remaining headstones were illegible. Through the generous donation of time of David Rosen, Larry Schwartz, my cousin Ervin Foldi, and Dov Paneth, we have an English translation of all the legible headstones from the Hebrew and Hungarian inscriptions. We also have all the dates translated from the Hebrew to the Gregorian Calendar. I can send you individual images if you follow these steps:

  • You agree to the Creative Commons License on this page.
  • Search the table below to find for your family names.
  • Write down the image numbers for your family names.
  • Complete the form and let me know the image numbers.
  • After you contact me, I will send you JPG files of the headstone photos.
  • You may use the photos only for personal genealogical research.
  • If you post the photos ANYWHERE on the internet or in any digital or printed form, you need to provide the attribution contained in the Creative Commons License below.

IF THE NAME YOU ARE LOOKING FOR IS NOT IN THE LIST, PLEASE DO NOT WRITE ME ABOUT IT.

ALL OF THE AVAILABLE PHOTOS ARE IN THE LIST BELOW.

  • The list is sorted by last name.
  • You can change the number of name to view on a page or enter a name, part of a name, or spouse name in the search box.
  • The list shows 20 names by default.
  • Click the arrow at the bottom to go to the next page if there are more than 20 names in your search results.
