On Sunday, June 29, 2016, I participated with 20 co-workers in the Seattle Pride Parade. It was quite a wonderful experience filled with an enormous amount of love and support for the local and worldwide LGBTQ communities. We assembled around 10am and I wandered about the parade area while we waited to march. I think around 1pm we began the 3 mile walk to Seattle Center where the enormous SeattlePrideFest had already begun. The Seattle Times estimated there were 500,000 people there.
I learned that the parade and the festival are managed by two different organizations. Please visit both websites to learn more:
“Our mission is to elevate the stories of LGBTQ people, advocate for our collective causes, and celebrate our victories.”
“We coordinate and promote Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender pride events in the Seattle area celebrating the present, envisioning the future, and honoring the past.”

Portland Pride Parade in 2005
I had not been to a Pride event since 2005 in Portland. I just discovered these photos I took when I was freshly returned to Portland from three years in Florida.
